Not many interesting things happened. Elephants, horses and salamanders first evolved in this period.
Earth's Surface:
Mountains rose, and sea levels fell. The climate cooled and dried. Elephants and apes wandered from Africa to Eurasia. Rabbits, pigs, saber-toothed cats, and rhinos went Africa. Elephants and Rhinos continued across the Bering Strait to North America. Horses went the other way. Ground sloths migrated from South America to North America. Raccoons scurried to the south. Even rodents may have hopped Pacific islands en route to Australia from Southeast Asia.
Biotic and Abiotic factors:
As a recap from earlier this year, abiotic factors are living beings or any thing that was once living. Abiotic factors have never lived. The biotic factors of the Neogene time period includes salamanders and elephants and other animals. Abiotic factors include trails on the ground and the sun.
Climate:
The climate in this period was always and very cold.
